The Nineteenth-Century Research Cluster

engages in an interdisciplinary approach to the study of

a period that saw unprecedented interaction and achievements

across the global cultures, and continues its influence on the

world at present. Spanning the diverse fields of literature, fine arts, history, music etc., our subjects are examined not only as they existed circa. 1800–1899 (or 1789–1914), but also as they relate

to their various antecedents and descendants far beyond the century. As well as to facilitate discussions on issues

both perennial and budding, we seek to challenge stable

notions within and of the Nineteenth Century.
